Samsung is gearing up for the August 11 Galaxy Unpacked event. The company will announce new foldable smartphones and wearables at the event. Early next year, Samsung is also expected to announce new Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones. The next-generation smartphones under the S series, dubbed Galaxy S22 series, are likely to get some major upgrades in terms of hardware and features. One of the new features rumoured is the inclusion of faster charging support. According to a new leak, the Galaxy S22 series could match the likes of the OnePlus 9 Pro, iQOO 7 Legend and other premium smartphones in terms of fast charging. Let’s take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S22 series specs, features, and other leaked details.
Samsung Galaxy S22 series could get 65W fast charging
Samsung Galaxy S22 series is rumoured to debut in January 2022. More than six months ahead of the launch, some key details have leaked online. According to tipster Tron, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones could get support for 65W fast charging. We have seen several smartphones from the likes of OnePlus, iQOO, etc that come with 65W or higher faster-charging speeds. Samsung, on the other hand, has refrained from moving upwards 45W fast charging for its flagship phones. The company has been playing safe when it comes to batteries and charging speeds after the Note 7 battery explosion fiasco
The current-generation flagship, the Galaxy S21 series, supports 25W fast charging out of the box. Samsung has launched devices in the past that offer support for 45W fast charging. However, these devices have shipped with a 25W fast-charging brick.
Samsung’s 65W fast charging tech has already received the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) approval. The alleged charger was also spotted in the wild. It has the same model number as the one listed on the BIS and TUV SUD certification websites. The images reveal that the charger will have a USB Type-C slot. This means that users will get a USB Type-C to Type-C cable alongside. The images also reveal that it will support PD(Power Delivery) and PPS(Programmable Power Supply).
