- Oppo announced the global versions of the Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro.
- The two phones are internally similar with minor differences in size and cameras.
- The Reno 4 Pro will launch in India in August for Rs. 34,990.
The global Oppo Reno 4 and Reno 4 Pro variants are now official. The two mid-range devices were launched alongside the Oppo Watch.
Do not draw conclusions based on the “Pro” suffix here. Both phones have entries in the compromise column.
Oppo Reno 4 Pro and Reno 4: Specifications
On the one hand, the Pro is slightly smaller and lighter than the Reno 4, but sports a 6.5-inch 2400 x 1080 AMOLED display. This panel also receives the 90Hz refresh rate processing. The Reno 4 is content with a 6.4-inch 2400 x 1080 AMOLED but gets a flat screen instead of the curved edges of the Pro model.
Internally, the Reno 4 Pro packs a 4000mAh battery with support for 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging. Oppo claims fast charge times from flat to 100% in under 40 minutes. The Reno 4 packs a slightly larger battery, but at 4015mAh, which can be recharged using Oppo’s 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 solution. It’s not what we would call slow, but a far cry from other enterprise charging solutions.
When it comes to imaging, the Reno 4 and the Reno 4 Pro largely share the same camera array. The headliner on both is a Sony IMX586 48MP snapper with OIS. It’s joined by an 8MP wide-angle sensor and a 2MP macro snapper. While the Reno 4 has a 2MP depth sensor, the Pro model sports a 2MP monochrome camera.
Up front, the Reno 4 has two selfie cameras mounted in a punch hole, namely a 32MP snapper alongside a 2MP. The 32MP is the Reno 4 Pro’s only selfie camera.
Internally, it’s a matter of re-identifying the difference between the two devices. Both phones sport the Snapdragon 720G chipset with 8GB of RAM and 12GB of storage. Buyers probably would have preferred Oppo to keep the Snapdragon 765G used in the Chinese version.
Both phones also have some comforts, including a built-in fingerprint sensor, headset port, and microSD card slot. Two SIM slots are also present while ColorOS 7.2 running on Android 10 is the operating system of choice for both models.
Oppo Reno 4 Pro and Reno 4: price and availability
Indian buyers can snag the Oppo Reno 4 Pro 8GB / 128GB model starting August 5 for Rs. 34,990 (~ $ 470). For what it offers, this might just be a tough sell in a country teeming with alternatives.
The Reno 4 Pro is also a big bounty over the Rs. 29,990 Reno Pro 3 which debuted with a Helio P90, 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, a 4,025mAh battery and a 64-inch main shooter. MP. Even the 256 GB storage version can be obtained cheaply.
If you are looking for an adventurous colourway, you would be sorely disappointed. Oppo offers the Pro in just two shades: Starry Night and Silky White.
Meanwhile, the Vanilla Oppo Reno 4 is now listed for pre-order on the Oppo Thailand site for the equivalent of around $ 385, but there is no word on a larger version just yet.
