OnePlus is already preparing its next version of the operating system, and its first reveal will take place on August 10 at 2 p.m. It will come with new visual components, new functional features, and what the company calls a “whole new interactive concept,” which we believe has to do with better ways of using notifications.
The big caveat is that the announcement is made on Weibo – Chinese social media, which means OnePlus will introduce Hydrogen 11 – it should be like Oxygen 11 but without Google services and some local market customization.
The good news is that the company is clearly working on its next operating system, and once everything is sorted out in China, it should also be adapted to work with Google platforms.
Last week, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, posted a tweet saying “11 on screen”, clearly suggesting that OnePlus will bring an always-on display feature to its latest devices with Android 11. The new operating system could be ready in time for the arriving OnePlus 8T series which should take place in September-October.
