LG is adding three new models to its affordable K-Series – technically, two new models. They all have 6.6 “screens, four cameras and 4,000 mAh batteries, and they also want to be robust (if not completely successful).
The three will be available in Europe from October, then LG will bring them to ‘key markets’ in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
The LG K62 sets the tone for the trio. It has a 6.6 “LCD with 1080p + resolution (20: 9) that will help you create and consume content – these phones are intended for a young, sociable audience.
The 48MP rear camera can launch a YouTube Live stream directly from the camera app. There is also a 5 MP ultra wide shooter (115 °) and two 2 MP modules (macro and depth). AI CAM recommends the optimal camera settings for the scene and subject.
The 28 MP selfie camera is exclusive to the K62, it is located in a punch hole on the screen. This model also gets the most storage, 128 GB, which can be expanded with the microSD card.
The phone is powered by an unnamed disk drive (2.3 GHz octa-core CPU) with 4 GB of RAM. It lets Android 10 run out of the box and there is a Google Assistant button on the side. Also on the side is the fingerprint reader.
The new trio of the K-Series passed eight categories of MIL-STD-810G tests: high / low temperature, temperature shock, vibration, shock and humidity. This does not make them particularly robust, as they have not been tested for droplets and are certainly not water resistant.
Like the other three, the K62 has a 4000 mAh battery that is charged via USB-C (the port has USB 3.1 Gen 1 connection).
The LG K52 takes the K62 formula and swaps the selfie camera with a 13 MP module. The storage capacity also drops to 64 GB, but you still get a microSD slot and 4 GB of RAM. All the others are identical.
Both K52 and K62 have a matte finish that is fingerprint resistant on the back. The K52 is available in white, red and blue.
The LG K42 was introduced a few days ago, but it fits into the other two models. This reduces some of the specifications, e.g. The 6.6 “screen now only has 720p + resolution and the octa-core processor drops to 2.0 GHz. The main camera at the back also has a 13 MP sensor, while the selfie camera gets an 8 MP sensor .
All the others – except for the price, which we do not yet know – are the same.
