Black Shark 3S will arrive on July 31 alongside a Tencent version

Qualcomm recently unveiled the Snapdragon 865+ chipset, sparking a race among smartphone makers over who will update their lineup first. Asus, Lenovo, and Samsung have already announced new phones with it, but the rest of the gaming phone makers will sooner or later follow suit.

The Black Shark brand manager recently posted a cryptic message to Weibo from a phone called Black Shark 3S and today we get a date for his announcement – Friday, July 31. It will also have a Tencent version, one unit of which will be offered to a random Weibo user who reposition the post.

The new phone will obviously have the Snapdragon 865+ chipset. Other improved specs we could get are the screen refresh rate – the Black Shark 3 Pro has “only” 90Hz, while the competition is already at 144Hz.

We expect the overall design of the Black Shark 3S to remain the same with mirrored triangles on the back, as well as the physical trigger keys. The charging will likely be around 65W, but since Xiaomi has already certified 120W charging technology, the 3S could perhaps go higher.
